Healthy Game Day Recipes

Are you ready for the Big Game? Whether you’re gathering with friends to cheer on your favorite team or just tuning in for the commercials, these recipes are sure to win over fans of all ages.

Classic Guacamole

Who says game day dips can’t be healthy? This authentic guacamole is simple to prepare and bursting with fresh flavors. Avocados contain healthy fats, disease-fighting antioxidants, and are an excellent source of fiber. Not to mention that nutrient-dense garlic and onion may reduce inflammation and support heart health. Just don’t forget to serve it up with some baked tortilla chips.

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocados

*Protect your hands by wearing disposable nitrile gloves while you prepare the jalapeño. Slice the length of the pepper, removing the core with veins and seeds (which contain most of the heat). For milder guacamole, discard the veins and seeds or save them to add extra heat to your guacamole. Wash your hands thoroughly after cutting the pepper.

Instructions

  • Slice the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop into a mixing bowl.
  • Mash the avocado with a fork and make it as chunky or smooth as you’d like.
  • Add the remaining ingredients and stir them together. Give it a taste and add a pinch more salt or lime juice if needed.

How to keep leftover guacamole green:

  • Place your leftover guacamole in a storage container and pat it down firmly with a spoon so it’s nice and flat on top.
  • Add about 1/2 inch of cold water on top of the guacamole.
  • Place the lid on the storage container and store it in the fridge. That’s it!
  • When you want to enjoy the guacamole, drain the water off the top, give it a stir, and you’re good to go.

White Bean and Feta Dip

This creamy, dreamy White Bean and Feta Dip tastes like next-level hummus. Cannellini beans provide protein and fiber, and garlic enhances flavor and may help boost the immune system. Parsley is a surprising source of calcium that may also support GI health. Serve this delectable dip with your favorite baked pita chips or crisp raw veggies.

Buffalo Chicken Meatballs

Spice up your game day menu with these Buffalo Chicken Meatballs, a saucy twist on chicken wings. These boneless bites are so craveable, you may want to double the recipe for your viewing party. The hot sauce brings a kick, while the garlic and onions provide low-calorie punches of flavor and may help reduce inflammation. Serve alongside carrot sticks and celery sticks with light ranch or blue cheese dressing, or tuck them into a hoagie roll or hot dog bun.

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 425° and brush a large baking sheet with oil. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine butter, hot sauce, and blue cheese, and season with salt. Whisk until the butter and cheese have melted, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
  • Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, stir together breadcrumbs, celery, Spice World Ready-to-Use Minced Garlic or Spice World Squeezable Minced Garlic, egg, green onions, and Spice World Ready-to-Use Chopped Easy Onion and season with salt. Add the chicken and half the hot sauce mixture and mix until combined.
  • Using a cookie scoop, form 1-inch meatballs and transfer them to a prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake until lightly golden, 15 to 17 minutes.
  • Drizzle the remaining sauce over the meatballs and sprinkle with green onions before serving.

Easy Weeknight Chili

Healthy and hearty, this crowd-pleasing chili may be the MVP of your Big Game menu. Tomatoes provide lycopene, which can help protect your skin from sun damage, as well as vitamin C, which enhances the absorption of iron from the beans and ground turkey. Superfoods like garlic and onion support heart health and may help prevent infection. When shopping for canned beans and tomatoes, be sure to look for low-sodium or no-salt-added versions. This chili is so flavorful, you won’t miss the added salt.
