Easy Baked Ziti

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ziti pasta
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ cup Spice World Ready-to-Use Chopped Easy Onion
  • 2 Tbsp Spice World Ready-to-Use Minced Garlic
  • 2 Tbsp minced fresh basil, divided
  • 1 Tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 4 cups jarred marinara or pasta sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 lb mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  • Boil the pasta per the directions on the package until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • Heat olive oil in a large pan on medium-high heat. Add ground beef, breaking up chunks as it cooks. Cook until browned and no pink remains. Drain if necessary and return to pan.
  • In the same pan as the beef, add Spice World Ready-to-Use Minced Garlic, half the basil, and Italian seasoning, stirring to combine. Cook until fragrant (about a minute), then add the tomato sauce and stir well. Bring to a simmer.
  •  Add Spice World Ready-to-Use Chopped Easy Onion. Season with salt and pepper, if needed.
  • Combine cooked ziti, ricotta cheese, half the mozzarella cheese, egg, and ¾ of the meat sauce in a medium bowl. Stir to combine.
  • Transfer into a 9×13 greased baking dish. Pour in remaining sauce, and top with remaining mozzarella cheese.
  • Bake uncovered in the oven at 375°F for 30 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly. Let stand for 10 minutes, then top with remaining fresh basil & serve.
