Roasted Balsamic Shallots

Roasted shallots provide a mellow, sweet taste which is complemented by the balsamic vinegar. This is the perfect side when you’re thinking vegetables, but elevated.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Spice World whole shallots, peeled and halved
  • 3 Tbsp butter
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 3 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tsp salt, to taste
  • 1 tsp pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  • Melt butter in a large oven-safe sauté pan over medium heat. Add shallots and sugar, and toss to coat. Cook until the shallots begin to brown.
  • Add balsamic vinegar to the pan and toss. Transfer the pan to the oven and roast the shallots until tender and caramelized, 20–30 minutes.
  • Salt and pepper to taste.
