How to Achieve your New Year’s Resolutions in the Kitchen

Super Green Ginger Smoothie

Go green this month by starting your day with a refreshing smoothie, filled with colorful produce available year-round at your local supermarket. It’s perfect after a challenging workout: The ginger can help alleviate muscle aches and even calm an upset stomach.  

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh spinach
  • 1 cup fresh kale
  • 1 apple, cored and cut into chunks
  • 1 banana, sliced
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1 Tbsp Spice World Squeezable Ginger
  • ½ cup coconut water
  • ½ cup ice
  • A small handful of fresh mint leaves
  • Optional: 1 scoop of protein powder

Instructions

  • Add all the ingredients to a blender.
  • Blend on high for 1-2 minutes until smooth.
  • Pour into a tall glass and enjoy!  

Spice World Easy Onion Hummus

Looking to add more fiber to your day? Give this hummus a go! In addition to the chickpeas, onions are a surprising source of fiber, which can aid in digestive health. Try this hummus on sandwiches instead of mayonnaise to add flavor and heart healthy unsaturated fat, or as a dip for raw veggies.

  • Combine tahini and lemon juice in a food processor. Process for 1 minute. Scrape the bowl and process for an additional 30 seconds.
  • Add the olive oil, Spice World Minced Garlic, Spice World Ready-to-Use Chopped Easy Onion, cumin, and salt to the whipped tahini and lemon juice. Process for 30 seconds, scrape the bowl, and process again for 30 seconds.
  • Open and drain the chickpeas.
  • Add half of the chickpeas to the food processor and process for 1 minute. Scrape bowl and then add remaining chickpeas. Process until smooth, about 1-2 minutes.
  • Drizzle with olive oil, paprika, and parsley for garnish.

Roasted Garlic

It’s a creamy, slightly sweet, and versatile topping for lean meats, vegetables, or spread on toasted whole grain bread with caramelized onions and a sprinkle of goat cheese.
